Wire EDM
Wire EDM cutting of internal profiles, sharp corners and hardened-steel features with no cutting force, plus sinker EDM and laser marking in the same cell.
Wire EDM for Internal Profiles and Hardened Stock
Wire EDM cuts with a charged wire and deionized water, so there is no cutting force and no burr. That makes it the tool for features a milling cutter cannot reach: sharp internal corners, narrow slots, enclosed profiles, and parts that are already hardened to HRC 55. KGL runs medium-speed wire EDM alongside sinker EDM and laser marking in one support cell.
What We Cut
- Enclosed internal profiles and narrow slots
- Sharp internal radii an end mill cannot leave behind
- Punches, inserts and gage parts in hardened steel
- Burr-free cutouts in thin stock and delicate geometry
Capability Detail
- Hardened steels, carbide, copper and conductive ceramics
- Wire diameters selected for your internal radius
- Sinker EDM for blind cavities and non-through features
- Parts deburred, cleaned and CMM-verified before shipment
How EDM Fits Your Part
EDM rarely stands alone. Typical routes pair it with milling or turning for the bulk geometry, then wire EDM for the impossible feature, then grinding if a face needs flatness. We sequence all of it in house, so the datum chain stays intact from first cut to final report.
