Why Buyers Machine Aluminum at KGL
- Deep bar and plate inventory in 2017-T4, 6061-T6, 6082-T6, 7075-T6 and MIC-6, sourced from imported mills and domestic Chinese mill stock, so prototypes start without a stock purchase wait
- Thin-wall capability proven on SUS304 for semiconductor work carries over to aluminum housings
- Type II and Type III anodizing, alodine and masking per drawing, with thread masking that stays clean
- Flatness control on machined-from-cast-plate baseplates: stress-relieved roughing, then finish passes

Chemical Composition of the Grades We Stock
Typical composition limits, weight percent, per the KGL engineering standard (2022-01-08) and GB/T 3190. Temper states (T4, T6, T351, T87) follow GB/T 16475, with temper definitions cross-checked against the Mechanical Design Handbook 6th ed. Vol. 1. Mill certificates govern actual lot values.

Machining Notes From Our Floor
- Sharp, polished flutes and high chip evacuation for 7075 to keep built-up edge off cosmetic surfaces
- Stress-relief roughing on stock removals above about 60 percent before finish passes
- Thread milling below M4 instead of tapping to protect thin bosses
- Anodize growth of 2 to 20 micrometers per face allowed for in drawing tolerances; tell us the coating class and we plan the pre-plate size
Finishes
Type II decorative anodize (clear or black), Type III hard coat, alodine/chromate conversion, powder coating, polishing and brushing. RoHS and REACH declarations available on request.
Finish detail pages: anodizing (standards table in MIL-A-8625 Type II / III), powder coating, polishing, laser engraving for permanent marks.

Aluminum Machining FAQ
Which aluminum grade should I choose between 6061 and 7075?
7075-T6 for maximum strength (572 MPa tensile) on structural parts; 6061-T6 when you need welding or cosmetic anodizing, where 7075 is weaker and can show banding after anodize.
Can you hold tight tolerances on aluminum?
Yes. Standard is +/-0.005 mm; on stable setups and specific features we hold +/-0.002 mm with CMM verification. Aluminum's thermal expansion makes fixturing and tool temperature the limiting factors, and we plan for both.
Do you supply material certificates for aluminum?
Every shipment includes a material certificate tracing the bar or plate lot. Mill certificates are available on request.
