Robotic Leg Links, Joint Housings and Drive Components
Lightweight structural limbs, joint housings and gear rings for quadruped, humanoid and industrial robots, machined with 0.005 mm bore concentricity and hard-coat anodizing.

Advanced robotics and quadruped platforms need structural components that minimize moving mass while maximizing torsional rigidity. Complex leg links, articulated joint clevices, strain-wave gear housings, and skeleton frames all require distortion control and dynamic multi-axis cutting to keep bearing seats aligned under high-frequency loads.
The Machining Challenge
Lightweight parts mean thin walls and pockets. Bearing seats must be coaxial across multiple faces, or joints bind and gears wear. Repeated re-fixturing would destroy the geometric relationships that make a robot arm repeatable.
How KGL Machines Robot Components
- Simultaneous 5-axis milling. Dynamic tool vectoring reaches deep pocket recesses, angled weight-reduction pockets, and curved structural ribs. Uniform wall thickness and optimal stress distribution are the result.
- 3+2 axis positioning. Bearing seats, actuator mounts, and sensor pockets are bored, reamed, faced, and tapped across multi-directional faces without repeated manual re-fixturing.
- One-setup accuracy. Machining critical joint pivots, bearing bores, and mounting points from one coordinate origin keeps coaxiality and planarity exact.
- Weight optimization. High-speed trochoidal milling removes excess material while preserving structural ribs, achieving mass reduction without sacrificing stiffness under impact.
