PTFE CNC Machining
Chemical proof and nearly friction free: PTFE for seals, insulators and sliding parts, machined with the annealing discipline it demands.
PTFE survives almost every chemical and shows the lowest friction of any solid we machine, which is why it ends up in seals, valve seats and slide elements. It is also the least dimensionally stable plastic we handle, so annealing before finishing and honest tolerance planning are part of every quote.
Why Teams Pick It
- Seals, seats and gaskets in aggressive chemical service
- Low friction slides and wear strips
- Electrical insulators with high dielectric strength
- Virgin and filled grades (glass, carbon, bronze)
Machining Notes
| Aspect | How we handle it |
|---|---|
| Cutting | Sharp tools, light cuts; PTFE galls easily so geometry matters |
| Stress | Annealing before finish passes is standard on precision parts |
| Tolerance | +/-0.05 mm standard; filled grades hold +/-0.02 mm; tighter on request with process review |
| Cleanliness | Sealed handling and packing for medical and semiconductor orders |
| Temperature limit | Continuous use to about 260 C |
Parts we make: typical parts. Polymer tolerance capability: tolerance standards.

Frequently Asked Questions
What tolerance can PTFE really hold?
Virgin PTFE creeps under load and moves with temperature, so +/-0.05 mm is the honest standard. Filled grades (25 percent glass or carbon) hold +/-0.02 mm. Tighter fits are quoted with the application reviewed, not guessed.
Which PTFE grade for a valve seat?
Virgin PTFE for chemical purity; glass-filled when the seat must resist flow (creep) under pressure. We recommend per application in the quote.
Do you machine PTFE for medical use?
Yes, from certified virgin stock with sealed handling; ISO 13485 documentation supports the order.
