About This Part

Sensor packaging plates live in a small world of tenths, and this one is no exception: a Ø180 mm disc, thin in section, with an eccentric boss raised above the face carrying a Ø26.3 mm bore in a Ø44 mm seat at a controlled depth of 9.95 to 12 mm. The boss seats an optical sensor or bearing while the thin disc around it stays flat within 0.05 mm.

Across the face, standing bosses of different heights carry 4X M2, 3X M4, and 2X M4 threads for stacking circuit boards or optical parts at fixed levels. The perimeter carries 9X M3 and 12X M2 threads for the housing closure. Boss top faces run parallel to the main datum within 0.02 mm so every stacked layer sits square.

Machining is double sided milling on vertical machining centers, with the multi height bosses cut on five axis or with precision setups, followed by drilling, tapping, ultrasonic cleaning, and micro deburring. Conductive anodize or conversion coating finishes the part, and the CMM checks 100 percent of the face flatness and boss positions.

Why Machine It at KGL

Five-Axis Fleet

100+ CNC machines including 11 five-axis centers run complex geometry in single setups, so tolerances do not stack up across refixturing.

Verified Accuracy

±0.005 mm standard on metals, plastics, and carbon fiber composite, verified on Hexagon and Zeiss CMMs (0.0015 mm accuracy).

Fast Prototypes

Engineering feedback with every quotation; prototype parts typically machined in 15 to 25 days.

One Supplier, End to End

Material sourcing, machining, heat treatment coordination, finishing, CMM inspection and export packaging under one roof.

Common Questions

Why an eccentric boss instead of a centered one?

The sensor axis is offset from the cover axis on the customer assembly. Cutting the boss eccentric in the plate removes an alignment shim that the assembler would otherwise have to fit and verify.

How are the different boss heights controlled?

Each height is a separate Z reference on the CMM report, checked against the main datum, so the stacked layers land level without shimming.
