AS9100D is the aerospace quality management standard built on ISO 9001:2015. It adds configuration management, risk management, special-process control, and first-article requirements that match the safety expectations of flight hardware. KGL started the project in early 2025 and passed the initial audit in February 2026.

What the Standard Requires

The standard expects every aerospace job tied to a specific drawing revision, material specification, and process sheet; formal withdrawal of superseded revisions before production restarts; risk reviews at quoting, planning, and first-article stages; and approved control of special processes.

First-article inspection is the gate between development and production release, and configuration management is what keeps the released configuration intact through engineering changes.

How It Runs at KGL

Configuration management. When a customer issues an engineering change, the old revision is formally withdrawn and the new one is distributed to planning, programming, machining, and inspection before production restarts.

Risk-based planning. Risks reviewed at each stage include tolerance stack-up, fixture repeatability, tool access on 5-axis features, and supply-chain lead times for aerospace-grade materials.

FAI as the release gate. The AS9102 report covers every dimension and note on the drawing, and batch machining starts only after the customer accepts it.

Cross entrances: inspection and QC | tolerance standards | AQL sampling | surface treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the AS9100D certificate number?

CN059081, issued by Bureau Veritas. It is valid from 2026-02-06 to 2029-02-05, with surveillance audits during the validity period.

Is your AS9100D certificate equivalent to EN 9100?

Yes. The certificate references BS EN ISO 9001:2015 and EN 9100:2018, and notes that EN 9100:2018 is technically equivalent to AS9100D.

Do you perform FAI per AS9102?

Yes. Aerospace parts receive a full AS9102 first-article inspection covering all drawing dimensions, notes, geometric tolerances, material certifications, and finish requirements before batch release. The report is reviewed by the quality manager and the customer.

Who controls your special processes?

Heat treatment, surface treatment, penetrant inspection, and shot peening are outsourced only to approved suppliers. We keep their approval records, process specifications, and certificates of conformance.

Where is the certified site?

The certification is single-site: the KGL factory at No.30 Changyue Road, Guangming District, Shenzhen, China.
