Laser Engraving and Marking for Traceability

30 W fiber laser marking in house: logos, serials, data matrix and graduations, per MIL-STD-130 convention where the drawing calls it, verified as named inspection items.

Permanent Marks for Traceability

Laser marking runs in house on a 30 W fiber laser, which keeps a short loop: machine, mark, inspect, pack, without a third handoff. Marks are permanent, position-accurate and inspection-friendly, which is what traceability chains from AS9102 FAI packages to serial-level logistics actually need.

How We Run It and Check It

On inspection-heavy programs the marking line is part of the balloon chart like any dimension. A real pattern from a robot joint shipment: each part carries its laser-engraved serial string, the item is checked on the sampling plan, and the record follows the part number into the shipment file. Marks are therefore not decoration; they are the index of the paper trail.

Frequently Asked Questions

What marking content can you engrave?

Logos, part numbers, revision letters, serial numbers, date codes, scale graduations and data matrix codes. Marking content per MIL-STD-130 convention is common on defense-adjacent and aerospace drawings, and we mark per the drawing callout, position included.

Will marking on anodized aluminum damage the coating?

No, black marking on anodized aluminum works by changing the oxide layer color, not removing it, so the surface stays sealed and corrosion resistant. Bare metal engraving removes depth, which is the right call when the mark itself must survive wear.

Can you engrave after powder coating or anodizing?

Yes, both are standard marking substrates. On powder-coated panels the laser strips the film locally for a contrasting mark. Sequencing matters, so confirm whether marking happens before or after coating at quote time.

Is the marking verified like a dimension?

Yes. Marking position, content and legibility are named inspection items on the balloon chart for marked parts, checked per the sampling plan before packing.
