AS9100D at KGL: Why Aerospace Buyers Ask for It
KGL AS9100D certificate by Bureau Veritas, No. CN059081. Purpose, scope, configuration management, and how the aerospace quality system runs on the shop floor.
AS9100D is the aerospace quality management standard built on ISO 9001:2015. It adds configuration management, risk management, special-process control, and first-article inspection requirements that match the safety expectations of the aerospace industry. KGL holds certificate CN059081 issued by Bureau Veritas, valid from 2026-02-06 to 2029-02-05. The operational details behind the certificate, audits, special processes and first-article practice, are described on the AS9100D quality page.
Why we pursued AS9100D
Aerospace work at KGL started through prototypes for automation and inspection fixtures, then moved into structural brackets and turbine hardware. By 2024 we were machining flight-critical prototypes, and customers began asking for an aerospace-certified quality system. We initiated the AS9100D project in early 2025 and passed the initial audit in February 2026.
Scope: manufacturing and sales of aerospace precision mechanical parts
The certificate scope covers manufacturing and sales of precision mechanical parts for aerospace. The part families we machine under this scope are on the aerospace machining page. The same certificate references EN 9100:2018, technically equivalent to AS9100D, and BS EN ISO 9001:2015. The certification is single-site, covering the KGL factory at No.30 Changyue Road, Guangming District, Shenzhen.

Four aerospace disciplines we practice
Configuration management. Every aerospace job is tied to a specific drawing revision, material specification, and process sheet. Engineering changes are formally withdrawn and redistributed before production restarts.
Risk-based planning. We review risks at quoting, process planning, and first-article stages. Risks include tolerance stack-up, fixture repeatability, tool access on 5-axis features, and material supply.
Special process control. Heat treatment, surface treatment, penetrant inspection, and shot peening are outsourced only to approved suppliers. We keep approval records and certificates of conformance.
First article inspection. Aerospace parts require a full FAI before production release. The FAI covers all dimensions, notes, geometric tolerances, material certifications, and surface-treatment requirements.

What this means for customers
AS9100D tells aerospace buyers that KGL can support their design with a system that understands traceability, configuration control, and risk. It is a prerequisite for many flight-critical brackets, turbine housings, and structural components.

Frequently asked questions
Is AS9100D required to supply aerospace customers?
Most aerospace primes and tier suppliers ask for it in supplier qualification. The standard, EN 9100:2018, is equivalent to AS9100D and is what Bureau Veritas certified, No. CN059081, valid from 2026-02-06 to 2029-02-05.
Frequently asked questions
How does AS9100D differ from ISO 9001?
It builds on ISO 9001 and adds aerospace disciplines: configuration management, first article inspection, counterfeit part prevention, and stricter risk control.
Frequently asked questions
Does the certification cover export sales?
Yes. The certified scope covers the manufacture and sale of aerospace precision parts, including the export orders handled from our Shenzhen facility.
